JUST EU and ME aimed to provide young people (18-30 yo) and representatives of youth associations with knowledge, skills and opportunities for actively participating in developing recommendations for EU and Member States to delivering on the EU Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) and improving social justice. The project’s focus is based on the fact that youth are bearing the brunt of social and economic crisis, as for Covid-19, and proved to have the capacity to develop proposals for a stronger post-pandemic economic and social system.
The project was two-folded: it was meant to train and support the youth activists (18-30 years old) – in Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Poland and Spain – in advocating for specific recommendations within the EPSR framework, and at the same time was designed to connect their requests with the debate on social issues at the European level and in the countries involved.
Within the twelve events (trainings and meetings) organized within the project, the beneficiaries invited campaigners, practitioners and national and European MPs that shared their experiences and discussed the national manifestos and the European manifesto with the youth involved.
At the national level, activists hosted at least two public events per country to present the national manifestos, and this was prepared by at least one outreach meeting (the participatory workshops) in each country and several interviews and focus groups (the participatory research). This made the whole action effective in terms of outcome but also widened the impact of the action on the society and the training of the youth.
The main outcome of the project was the presentation of youth recommendations in a common manifesto to Members of the European Parliament and other important stakeholders.
